Definition:

Solidity is the programming language of the Ethereum EVM, or Virtual Machine. It is used to write smart contracts and powers the blockchain. It was first proposed by Gavin Wood, who developed it with the Ethereum core developers. It is used on Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Tron, Hedera Hashgraph, Harmony, Fantom, Avalanche, Polygon and many other EVM compatible blockchains.
