Dox

Definition:

The act of revealing your own or someone else’s identity online. Originates from the act of publicly sharing documents (or docs) online. Back in the real hacker days, a computer may be hacked during a live presentation and embarrassing or sensitive documents relating to the presenter displayed for all to see. Nowadays it is more the online doxxing of anons, especially if they were involved in shady practices. This can sometimes result in threatened or real physical harm. It is also now commonly used to refer to DeFi and NFT teams i.e. a doxxed team is a team where all the team members are publicly named.
